About THE CRAFT : Dhokra/Dokra is an ancient method, dating 5000 years of making metal artefacts(Bronze & Copper) through the lost wax casting technique to create religious figurines, ritual objects, ornaments & kitchenware with intricate surface ornamentation such as pellets, lattices & spirals. Dhokra artisans use wax, resin, firewood & clay from riverbeds & a firing hole dug in the ground. Dhokra art is inspired bythe primordial tribal themes of animals, mythical creatures, human heads & foliage & is designed by the Dhokra artisans of Odisha & West Bengal.
